The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of Belburge International Limited (Custom Bonded Terminal/Warehouse), Amb. Dr. Nwagbo Eberechukwu Barnabas has congratulated Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Professor Mrs. Ngozi Odu, as they resumed office from their six months suspension, after expiration of the emergency rule in the state.
Speaking with Journalists in Port Harcourt on the sideline of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, Amb. Barnabas, popularly known as “Dr. Banny”, who doubles as the CEO of Roseluxe Hotel Limited and the Irish Homes Limited (a real estate firm), also welcomed members of the Rivers State House of Assembly back to duty and urged them to work in peace and harmony with the Governor for the interest and development of the State.
The ECOWAS Youth Ambassador and recipient of African Under-40 CEO Award, also felicitated with President Bola Tinubu, Governor Fubara and Nigerians on the nation’s 65th anniversary celebration, while tasking leaders of the country to prioritize welfare of citizen and put measure that will improve the nation’s economy.
Amb. Barnabas further called on Rivers people, especially stakeholders and politicians, to cooperate with the Governor Fubara to enable him discharge his constitutional responsibilities.
He enjoined the governor to remain focused on governing the state and also treat everybody equally irrespective of their political or religious affiliations.
The Anambra-born Entrepreneur further advised the governor, the lawmakers and all parties involved in the political crisis that plagued the state for over two years, resulting to the suspension of democratic institutions and declaration of State of emergency, to use lessons learnt from the crisis to promote unity and peaceful coexistence among them, their supporters and other citizens.
He emphatically advised Governor Fubara “to rebuild trust and keep rebuilding relationships with stakeholders, including the public, officials, and partners.
“I congratulate and welcome them all back to their respective offices. What happened in Rivers State in the last six months wasn’t really a good experience for the state, her economy and her citizens.
“Now that the crisis is over, the emergency rule has ended, their suspension lifted and they are back to their positions, I urge our amiable governor, the House of Assembly members and all parties to the crisis that brought the state to where we are now, to learn from past experiences by reflecting on the circumstances that led to the unfortunate developments and use those lessons to improve governance.
“They should prioritize transparency and accountability, ensure openness in decision-making and actions to maintain public trust.
“I also urge them to foster unity, focus on hard work, dedication, and strategic vision, for future successes.
“They should work towards healing all divisions and promoting peace and unity among constituents and also deliver on promises and pressing issues in the state. I am hopeful that this new chapter will bring renewed stability, sustainable peace, development and progress to Rivers State,” He said.
Amb. Barnabas expressed readiness to work and partner with relevant stakeholders and institutions to make its quality contributions to the socio-economic growth of Rivers State and country.
He however, prayed for peace, progress and development of Rivers State and also asked God to give the governor, his deputy, and the lawmakers the wisdom and guidance to steer the ship of governance and legislation in the State.
