The chairman of the Ekeremor Rural Development Authority, ERDA, Deme Debra Pamosoo Esq on Monday met with stakeholders from the council over the threat posed by the ravaging flood in the area.

The meeting, which had in attendance, Leader of the 7th Ekeremor Legislative Arm /Councillor Ward 8, Rt. Hon. Benin Benni N Sylvester, Hon. Pius Jonah, Elder Kekamor Ebimiekumor, Barr. O D Olorogun, Mr. Ransome Umokoro, Hon. Ebi Afesuku, Hon. Esonmor Desegha.

Mr. Daniel Ebimoghan, Hon Ebikebena Okorotie and Mrs. Taaimi Owobiri deliberated on the threat posed by the flood and threat to many basic amenities in the area.

Deme Pamosoo Esq pointed out that there is rising concern amongst indigenes of the Ekeremor Community, which is under the RDA, adding that there is dire need for an urgent intervention by the state and federal governments to stem the ravaging erosion from cutting off the roads linking the health center and another road leading to the Ekeremor secondary school, the NYSC lodge, the Ekeremor Governor’s lodge, the police station and part of the way to the RDA headquarters.

According to her, if nothing concrete is done soon,” the high tide or flood comes, we would have difficulties in connecting the other part of the town, and this will disrupt the school activities amongst other activities, thereby affecting also the economic life of the people loosing connection with the main town amidst other state connection”.

“Pictures of the flood affected and erosion collapsed and subsidence area at the health center and that of the Secondary School Ekeremor was captured for stakeholders to peruse”.

Stakeholders expressed support for the call by Deme Debra Pamosoo Esq, on the issue of threat of the erosion and insisted that the flood is about to disconnect the two axis of the Ekeremor community, which they said is a matter of urgency.

“We truly need to act fast in order to pay a courtesy visit to His Excellency Senator Douye Diri who is a governor who did very well by initially awarding the contract to a contractor to work on it, but for the death of the contractor.”

“We also call on all other relevant stakeholders in the state and at the federal level to jointly address this urgent problem of Ekeremor community before the high tide which would cause a great problem for the Ekeremor people.

“We believe strongly that the government and other relevant stakeholders within and outside the state would respond positively as good governance has always been the order of the day in their style of leadership”.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Ekeremor Rural Development Authority, ERDA, Deme Debra Pamosoo Esq also informed the gathering of stakeholders that the state governor, Senator Douye Diri has approved two projects for the RDAbat inception and they include the renovation of the Ekeremor RDA headquarters secretariat at Temekiri Zion and the renovation of the primary School at Temekiri Zion.

She also announced that Governor Douye Diri has also approved the renovation of 200 meters concrete walkway at Isrealo Zion, another community in the RDA, with key stakeholders engaged to kick-start the project so as to bring development once more to the door step of the grassroots in the different communities under Ekeremor RDA.

In an unanimous response, the key stakeholders commended the leadership of the Ekeremor RDA for rendering progress report so far in the RDA. “We are grateful to see all laudable and feasible projects done so far at the grassroots and it is worthy of emulation for any other leader who is given a leadership position.

“We want to also thank the leadership for carrying all men, women and youths along right from when she resumed office till date.”
