… As Tinubu Approves His Appointment as NDBDA MD

    By our Reporter

The newly appointed managing director and chief executive officer of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA), Prince Ebitimi Amgbare, says God has made him to triumph over his political opponents.

He said he has learnt to trust God for everything in life.

Prince Amgbare stated this during a Thanksgiving Service held on Sunday, 12 May, 2024 at the Royal House of Grace, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. He said God has given him reason to celebrate despite the strong political opponents that fought hard to thwart his efforts

The retired Naval officer and former commissioner for Sports and Youth in Bayelsa State was visibly elated as he sang songs of praise and worship, and danced to the glory of God, in what he described as “a moment of celebration”.

In his words “I learnt to trust the name of the Lord for everything in life.

“When I was struggling politically, my opponents were very strong but often times I waited and waited and I believed that in no distant time, the Lord will do a new thing for me and today my humble self and wife, all well wishers are joining me to thank God because He has done a new thing for me and my family .”

The Thanksgiving Service had in attendance party chieftains across political lines, such as the member representing Kolokuma/Opokuma Constituency 2, and chairman, House Committee on Information in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Wisdom Fafi.

In an interview with journalists after the well attended thanksgiving service and reception, an elated Ebitimi Amgbare paid glowing tribute and encomium on President Bola Tunubu for considering him worthy of “this rare opportunity to serve the Federal Republic of Nigeria, by this appointment as the managing director of Niger Delta Basin Authority,( NDBDA).”

He said his attention is to prioritize the revamping of the Board as it focuses on irrigation, agriculture and water resources, and as it pertains to the three states which the board covers..

“We shall advocate for cleaner environment, open air defecation and food security, we shall embark on revamping our rice farms such as peremabiri rice farms for massive rice production for the entire country”

The Niger Delta Basin Development Authority (NDBDA) was established in 1976 via Decree 37 promulgated by the Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo administration. Its functions among others include development of irrigation schemes for crops and livestock production and other agricultural purposes.

Over the years, the agency has established several agricultural pilot schemes including fisheries in various sites across the Niger Delta states.

The NDBDA is headed by a managing director/CEO with four executive directors in-charge of the four major departments crucial to the delivery of it’s mandate in line with instrument establishing it.

The four departments include , Administration and Finance, Planning, Investigations and Design, Engineering department and Services Department.
