The 2025 edition of the NLNG Science Quiz and Science Project Exhibition for secondary schools in Rivers State has kicked off with a sharp focus on advancing renewable energy innovations among secondary school students in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The science quiz, which commenced on Wednesday, is designed to ignite creativity, problem-solving skills, and real-world applications of science and technology, aligning with global efforts to transition toward sustainable energy systems, the company said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Sophia Horsfall, NLNG\u2019s General Manager for External Relations and Sustainable Development, described the competition as a “call-to-action” for young innovators to contribute to a cleaner, greener future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis initiative is more than just a quiz – it\u2019s about empowering Nigeria\u2019s future scientists, engineers, and policymakers with the knowledge to drive sustainable energy solutions,\u201d she said, adding \u201cwe are nurturing the minds that will shape Nigeria\u2019s energy transition.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2025 competition will be held across multiple locations, including Bonny, Khana, Port Harcourt, Omoku, and Oyigbo. It would also feature two main components: a Science Quiz and a Science Project Exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The science quiz competition unfolds in three phases: the Olympiad, the Championship, and the Grand Finale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Dragnet Solutions Limited, the competition\u2019s facilitator, the Olympiad stage would be conducted as a Computer-Based Test (CBT), allowing participation from public secondary school students in Rivers State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The quiz would be in two categories \u2013 the SS1 Category where the winners would be determined at the Championship stage; and the SS2 Category where the finalists would advance to the Grand Finale for the ultimate prize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A statement by Anne-Marie Palmer-Ikuku, NLNG’s Manager, Corporate Communication and Public Affairs has it that the Science Project Exhibition competition would begin at the championship stage, with finalists competing in the grand finale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It added that the event is organised in collaboration with the Rivers State Ministry of Education and the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN), Rivers State chapter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Beyond fostering academic excellence, NLNG aims to inspire students to pursue careers in STEM fields, crucial for Nigeria\u2019s technological and economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As the world shifts toward clean energy, initiatives like NLNG\u2019s Science Quiz and Science Project Exhibition, play a pivotal role in preparing young Nigerians to lead in renewable energy innovation. The competition not only tests knowledge but also encourages practical, sustainable solutions to real-world energy challenges”, the company said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the 2024 edition, Government Girls Secondary School Oyigbo clinched the SS2 category title, while Community Secondary School Igbo-Etche emerged victorious in the SS1 category.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
