{"id":15443,"date":"2025-03-18T12:29:58","date_gmt":"2025-03-18T12:29:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/phmundial.com\/?p=15443"},"modified":"2025-03-18T12:29:58","modified_gmt":"2025-03-18T12:29:58","slug":"serap-drags-akpabio-to-court-over-akpoti-uduaghans-unlawful-suspension","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deepstrataenergy.com\/phmundial\/2025\/03\/18\/serap-drags-akpabio-to-court-over-akpoti-uduaghans-unlawful-suspension\/","title":{"rendered":"SERAP Drags Akpabio to Court over Akpoti-Uduaghan&#8217;s &#8216;Unlawful Suspension&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP; has filed a lawsuit against the Senate President, Mr. Godswill Akpabio over the failure to reverse the unlawful suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, as the purported suspension was based on the peaceful exercise of her right to freedom of expression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Senate president was sued for himself and on behalf of other members of the Senate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Senate recently suspended Mrs. Akpoti-Uduaghan for six months, after she spoke without permission and refused her new seat in the Senate chamber.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her salary and allowances have also been withheld for the duration of the suspension, and she has been barred from identifying herself as a senator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SERAP is seeking an order to compel Akpabio and the Senate to rescind the &#8220;unlawful suspension&#8221; of Mrs. Akpoti-Uduaghan, reinstate her, and fully restore all her legislative rights, entitlements, and privileges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SERAP is also seeking an order of perpetual injunction restraining the Senate from further suspending or taking any disciplinary action against Mrs. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for the peaceful exercise of her fundamental human rights.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP; has filed a lawsuit against the Senate President, Mr. Godswill Akpabio over the failure to reverse the unlawful suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, as the purported suspension was based on the peaceful exercise of her right to freedom of expression.
