Recovering Valuable Subsurface Information with Precision

coringg

DeepStrata Energy supports controlled core recovery operations designed to protect the quality and integrity of geological samples from the moment they are retrieved.

Our wellsite teams work with drilling and geological personnel to monitor recovery, maintain accurate depth correlation and ensure that recovered cores are carefully handled, documented and prepared for subsequent preservation and analysis.

Protecting the Integrity of Every Core

Core Preservation

Core preservation is essential to maintaining the structural, geochemical and stratigraphic integrity of recovered geological samples.

DeepStrata Energy applies preservation techniques tailored to lithology, formation conditions and project objectives. Our approach is designed to minimize disturbance, moisture loss, temperature-related alteration and physical damage between core recovery and laboratory analysis.

Our preservation capabilities include polyurethane foam encapsulation, epoxy resin sealing, deep-freezing and CORE WRAP technology, supported by standardized handling and documentation procedures.

Stabilizing Cores for Safe Handling and Long-Term Preservation

Foam Injection Preservation

DeepStrata Energy utilizes polyurethane foam encapsulation as part of its core stabilization and preservation capabilities.

Foam injection preservation provides structural support to recovered cores, helping minimize movement, disturbance and physical damage during handling, transportation and subsequent processing.

Our preservation approach is integrated with accurate depth correlation, sample documentation and project-specific handling requirements to help maintain the integrity and scientific value of recovered geological material.

Creating a Permanent Visual Record of Every Core

Core Photography

DeepStrata Energy provides high-resolution wellsite core photography to document the condition, lithology and structural features of recovered cores immediately after retrieval.

Our imaging workflow uses both white light and ultraviolet (UV) photography, capturing the top, bottom and full length of standard core sections. Cores can be photographed in both wet and dry conditions to reveal contrasting geological features.

Each image is supported by calibrated depth, color and scale references, with relevant well, interval and orientation metadata digitally recorded and archived.

Revealing the Elemental Signature of the Core

Core Gamma Ray Scanning

DeepStrata Energy provides Spectral Core Gamma Ray (CGR) analysis to deliver detailed information beyond conventional total gamma measurements.

Our analysis separates the gamma-ray response into its elemental components—Potassium (K), Uranium (U) and Thorium (Th)—helping identify mineralogical variations, organic-rich intervals, diagenetic changes and subtle geological features.

High-resolution scanning is performed under controlled conditions, with rigorous depth referencing, energy calibration, background correction, spectral processing and quality control.

Spectral CGR data can be integrated with core photography, sedimentological descriptions, XRD mineralogy, geochemical datasets and wireline logs to strengthen geological and reservoir interpretation.

Preparing Geological Cores for Detailed Examination

Core Slabbing

Core slabbing forms part of DeepStrata Energy's core handling and preparation workflow, supporting the systematic examination, documentation and analysis of recovered geological samples.

Our approach emphasizes careful handling and preservation of core integrity while preparing samples for subsequent geological description, photography and analytical workflows.

Core slabbing can be integrated with DeepStrata's broader core handling, preservation, photography and sample management services.

Transforming Core Observations Into Geological Insight

Geological Description

DeepStrata Energy integrates detailed geological observations with core photography, analytical data and other subsurface information to develop a clearer understanding of recovered geological samples.

Our geological workflows support the documentation and interpretation of lithological features, sedimentological characteristics, structural features and stratigraphic relationships.

These observations can be integrated with Spectral Core Gamma Ray data, XRD mineralogy, geochemistry, wireline logs and other core datasets to strengthen reservoir characterization and subsurface interpretation.

Complete Visibility and Traceability of Geological Samples

Sample Inventory Management System

DeepStrata Energy provides a technology-enabled Sample Inventory Management System designed to maintain accurate records and traceability throughout the lifecycle of geological samples.

The system supports the management of whole cores, core plugs, sidewall cores, cuttings and formation fluids, with each sample linked to important information such as well name, depth, lithology, sample type, collection date and handling method.

Unique identifiers such as barcodes or RFID tags can be used to track samples, while digital records capture preservation treatments, sampling activities and analytical usage.

Secure Storage for Valuable Geological Data

Core Storage

DeepStrata Energy supports the secure storage and continued management of geological samples following field recovery and processing.

Our sample-management approach incorporates appropriate storage conditions, inventory tracking and regular condition checks to help protect samples from alteration, contamination or loss.

Core storage is integrated with our Sample Inventory Management System, enabling samples to remain identifiable, traceable and accessible throughout their lifecycle—from exploration and appraisal through analysis and future re-sampling requirements.
